Since I am a occasional Kinemac user, I cannot determine since when this problem came up, but I am quite sure it wasn't there in 2009…

Currently, when I start Kinemac, a short time later Apple Mail doesn't respond to keystrokes immediately, instead the letters appear one by one e.g. in the mail composing form. All other Mail actions (switching views, filtering, sorting etc.) are done in usual speed.
Sometimes also Safari has problems: Yesterday it was not possible to work with Safari as long as Kinemac was running: Safari was incredibly slow. So, I had to quit Kinemac whenever I wanted to look up something in the web (e.g. the help / FAQ pages). Today (without rebooting), no problems with Safari. There were/are no other large processes that might have caused paging/swapping.
Also, the fans speed up although there is no relevant CPU usage by Kinemac or any other process.

All this happens with Kinemac started up with a simple kmc document, but no user actions, i.e. no animation having played yet and no editing actions at all.

Is there anything known in this respect?

I use a MacBook Pro 17" (early 2008) with an external Cinema 30" display, all mentioned software is up to date. The hard disk has several free GB left, and there's still free RAM.

Thank you for any advice.

Which MacOS X version are you running?
Did you experience the same problem with a different OS?

As I said, all software is at the latest version, i.e. OSX 10.6.4(10F569), Kinemac 1.8.3, Safari 5.0.1 (6533.17.8), Mail 4.3 (1081).

When I was last using Kinemac, it was March 2010 (inferring from the date of some .kmc files). I cannot remember experiencing any of the effects I have now.

I'll try and test it on the same machine with a fresh user (not sure if the Kinemac licensing manager allows me to do this), to be sure no Mail/Safari extensions are involved.

As you can easily verify on the web, the MacOS X 10.6.4 introduced some bug at the graphic engine, mostly on the NVIDIA drivers. Apple has already released a beta fix so soon we will get a final fix. If the problem persists even with the upcoming OS, please let me know.
